AP COMPUTER SCIENCE A: Multi-Branch Selection Module
QUESTION 1 OF 12
AP CSA Exam Reference Guide: Multi-Branch Selection (if-else and else-if Chains)

AP Computer Science A Standards: Multi-branch selection allows a program to choose between multiple paths of execution based on boolean conditions. An if-else statement evaluates a condition: if true, the if block executes; if false, the else block executes. For more than two options, else if clauses are chained together. The program evaluates conditions sequentially from top to bottom, executing the block associated with the first true condition and bypassing all subsequent branches. The final else acts as a default catch-all.
